The HCG weight loss process requires a phase where you give yourself HCG via oral drops twice a day or an Intramuscular or Subcutaneous injection once a day. This is typically done for 23 days in the standard program and for 40+ days in the maximum weight loss program. Daily weigh-ins and/or inch measurements will confirm steady progress. Typical weight loss for men is 1-1.5 lbs per day and for women is 0.5-1.0 lb per day. The diet component of the HCG phase (phase 2) is quite restrictive. You are limited to about 500 calories a day made up of 2 fruits from a selected list, unlimited vegetables from a selected list and 2 protein portions from a selected list. This is combined with copious water consumption. The HCG has an appetite suppression effect that I best describe as an apathy toward food. The HCG’s effect on your body allows your stored fat to make up the calorie deficit.

97% of clients will lose significant weight during the HCG portion of the diet. The 3% who don’t lose weight typically identify themselves by day 5 of the HCG phase when they fail to experience the apathy effect on hunger. Long term failures occur when the client does not complete phase 3 of the program (3 additional weeks of no sweet and no starch/grain eating) or returns to old eating habits after completing phase 2 and 3 of the program (does not embrace phase 4 of the program). Clients who gain weight slowly during phase 4 may return to do another round of HCG as needed.
